Sourcing Specialist

Scope of responsibilities:

Supplier Relations:

  • Conduct business within established supplier relationships
  • Identify and communicate internally any supplier concerns or opportunities. Support cost recovery initiatives
  • Support problem resolution discussions with suppliers and ensure the adequacy and timeliness of supplier correction action plans
  • Enter cost changes, assign selected suppliers, and support sourcing projects
  • Prepare and solicit requests for quotes and proposals based on the defined commodity strategy

Sourcing Priority Management:

  • Maintain current pricing and communicate cost opportunities when identified. Work with suppliers to resolve price and invoice discrepancies
  • Monitor and drive supplier performance for assigned categories to ensure suppliers are meeting Polaris requirements for quality and delivery
  • Help support part shortages and delivery issues when necessary
  • Monitors supplier capabilities, lead-times, and capacity to ensure on-time delivery of MRO items needed to support production, maintenance, and other end users
  • Identifies new product and process technologies and facilitates introducing the organization to suppliers that may possess new or superior technical capabilities
  • Manages the plants purchase requisition system within EAM; including negotiating best pricing and quality and submitting PO’s to suppliers
  • Provide assistance with tool crib to help maintain accurate inventories, set adequate stock levels, and determine actions for non-moving items


  • Understanding all production processes and technologies. Creating and implementing a department/ category strategy and subordinate material group
  • Coordination of purchasing activities between many departments including departments such as: Engineering, Accounting, Logistics, Production, Painting, Welding, Maintenance and Services
  • Participation in the product development process, product launch, production
  • Monitoring of the purchasing budget and expenditure on tools for subordinate product groups and implemented projects. Support for cost control of new projects - component level.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or other technical area
  • Previous materials/purchasing experience preferred, especially within MRO and Indirect
  • 2-3+ years of working experience
  • Effective negotiation, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication within team and cross-functionally
  • Highly organized and effective in managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to professionally represent our Client by developing productive working relationships with suppliers
  • Experienced in presentation abilities, including PowerPoint development. Expected to present to smaller audiences on occasion
  • Knowledge of Project Management tools and ability to assist in tasks assigned by Project Managers is a plus
  • Fundamental knowledge of MAPICS MRP and web-based business systems desired
  • Microsoft Office
  • Proficient English level required to interact with direct Manager and US Team
